I've had a little go at updating the photos for our frontpage. Its still in its early stages but I want to get an idea if people are happy with (1) the picture and (2) if everybody is ok with their mugshots being there. Please let me know if you are not! I've tried to include as many of you as I could but I only had a limited number of photos. I will sort out the rest of the page later. Follow the link: New Photos

Tri Preston's Matt Moorhouse followed up his second places in both the London and Carsington Duathlons with a record-breaking run in yesterday's Standish Hall Trail Race. There was a lot of competition yesterday with Wigan at home to Man Utd and the first of the Mid Lancs XC fixtures at Worden Park but a good turnout of some 130 runners saw Matt win in a course record 34:15 from Stockport Harrier Bashir Hussain (34:29) in a race which included none other than former World Champion and snooker legend, Ronnie 'The Rocket' O'Sullivan. Other significant results: Ronnie O'Sullivan, Woodford Green, 38:40, Phil Davidson 47:08, Neil Smith 47:36, Ian Murphy 47:42

17th Sept
Another big race and another large turnout, this time in Wales for the Bala Standard Distance Triathlon. Martin Kerry claimed the honours as first club member to finish (2:14:31) beating Kieran Rowlands (2:14:41) by just 10 seconds with Duncan Anderson hot on their heels (2:15:27). 17th Sept
Meanwhile a bit closer to home in sunny Cheshire there was a minor miracle as Neil Dunn was the first Tri Preston member to cross the line in 1:10:26 at the North West Classic. (As this probably won't happen again in your lifetime I intend to make the most of it so please make an orderly line for the t-shirt, the book, the badge, the film.....). Mark Curley was just behind in 1:10:36 and Neil Smith finished in 1:12:29.
10th Sept
A few brave souls (some may call them slightly mad) took on and completed the Helvellyn Triathlon. For those who don't know it consists of a 1 mile swim in Lake Coniston (the ony flat bit). A 38 mile cycle incorporating the Kirkstone Pass and a little 8 mile run up Helvellyn itself. Entry form for next year anyone? Andrew McCracken was the first home in 4:23:30 (39th in age group) with Mark Procter not far behind in 4:30:29. Dave Rigby finished in 5:53:47. Aly Woodhall was the first lady home completing the course in 5:12:13 and finishing 5th in her age group. Anna Willetts also did well claiming 8th in her age group with a time of 5:24:18.

Martin Kerry finished in 2:30:01 (45th of 92 in his age group) and Nicola completed the course in 2:37:10 (23rd of 72 in her age group). 3rd Sept: There was a large club turnout for the Rivington Triathlon this weekend, with 11 of our athletes competing and despite the rather unsettled weather some strong performances. Rodger Wilkins was the first club member to cross the line to claim 4th place with a time of 2:15:25. Andrew Tabernacle (2:23:28) was the next home to claim 13th spot with Duncan Anderson not too far behind (2:27:01) in 17th. The full list of members competing at olympic distance is as follows: Richard Holmes (2:29:35), Mark Procter (2:37:26), Jaron Sharples (2:39:04), Phil Davidson (2:46:39), Darren Slater (2:49:19), Stephen Hinde (2:52:09), Francis Moore (3:01:10) and Chris Stryker (3:37:22). Darren Slater did exceptionally well cosidering he had a pucture on the stretch up to Rivington. Simon Barnes has managed to catch everybody (I think) on film and has kindly offered you the opportunity to see yourselves in action. Follow the link to find your mugshot: http://www.simonbarnes.net/wp-gallery2.php?g2_itemId=17677 28th Aug: Quite a few members made the short trip up the A6 to participate in the Cockerham Triathlon, which has a cross country slant on the usual races. An open water swim is followed by a 15 km bike ride through fields and trails and a 5 km cross country run. Andy Brooks trip was definitely worthwhile a he claimed first place in a time of 1:01:00 and he was closely followed in by Kieran Rowlands in third (1:03:00) and Andrew McCracken in 7th (1:05:05). Chris Wild finished just outside the top ten in 1:06:00. Other finishers were Simon Devereux (1:10:00), Mark Procter (1:11:41) and Peter Knott (1:23:50) 20th Aug: Blackpool Triathlon became a Duathlon due to the weather. Congratulations to Dawn Walmsley who came first in her Results still to come in. 20th Aug: We have some new members to the Ironman Hall of Fame with Richard Mason and Shirley Hunt conquering Ironman UK. Richard completed the course in 11h 40m 47s to come 46th in his category. WRONG! WRONG! WRONG ! It seems that there is more than one Richard Mason who completed Ironman UK. Tri Prestons' version finished in 10h 43m 25s to finish 12th in his category and 120th overall and with a new PB. Shirley completed the course in 13h 16m 54s finishing as the 53rd female overall and 10th in her category. If she's true to her word Shirley will now abandon the triathlon to take up her new hobby of knitting. Expect woolen tri-suits to appear at a club near you in the not too distant future. Maxine Knagg also competed but we're not sure what happend as the results are not complete. 5th Aug: Duncan Anderson puts in another fine performance at the London Triathlon claiming 20th position in the sub-2:30 category with a time of 2:07:23. News of Simon Barnes and Stephen Hinde when I find their times. 5th Aug: Another mass exodus as Tri-Preston descends on Holme Pierrepont for the National Team Relay Triathlon Championships. Tri Preston 1 (male) was the first team home finishing 19th overall in 3:04:29. The male veteran team followed in 3:16:33 to claim 53rd. The two mixed teams were evenly matched and it was so close at times people began to wonder if a new sport of sychronised triathlon had been born. Depressed on Talent just pulled away from the Paddle Peddle Pushers (whoever chose these names needs help) to finish 113th in 3:37:42 with the latter finshing 115th in 3:38:48. Follow the link for the photos 31st July: It seems almost everybody had left Preston to be at the Saford Triathlon as the club had 27 entrants. Duncan Anderson (2:06:48) had the honour of being the fist man to finish for the club and finishing 15th overall by just one second from Rodger Wilkins (2:06:49). Just behind there was also a closely fought contest between Stephen Schofield (2:09:38), Andy Brooks (2:10:26) and Kieran Rowlands (2:11:26). First lady home was Anna Willetts (2:35:33) finishing 7th in her category, followed by Shirley Hunt ( 2:38:18) and Vicki Cummings ( 2:51:41). The full list of members competing at olympic distance is as follows: Paul Sanderson (2:14:29), Andrew McCracken (2:14:41), Adam Bolton (2:15:47), Andrew Tabernacle (2:18:18), Martin Kerry (2:20:00), Mark Procter (2:25:05), Simon Devereux (2:28:00), Darren Slater (2:29:37), Phil Davidson (2:34:02), Jason Robinson (2:35:26), Jim Townhill (2:37:09), Graham Beck (2:41:55), Francis Moore (2:48:01) and Ian Murphy (DNF). The race, not for the faint hearted, and described as one of the toughest comprises of a 1.2 mile swim in Wimbleball lake. This is followed by a 2 lap, 56 mile technical, very challenging and very hilly bike course through Exmoor National Park. The race is completed with a 13.1 mile undulating run alongside the lake. Richard Mason completed the course in 5hr 21m 26s finishing 13th in his category. It turns out I was wrong. Steve Worthington was also at Windsor competing in the Elites and finishing in 2 hrs 01 m 47 secs. Apparently there were one or two talented newcomers in the field, ones for the future I'm reliably informed, go by the names of Don, Clarke, Hayes, Stannard, Amey, Freeman, Johns, and Jenkins. Also competing in the Elites was Charlotte Tompkins who was up against Helen Tucker, Anneliese Heard, Helen Lawrence and Julie Dibens. Charlotte racing as an U23 came 9th in her class and 18th overall in 2hr 22m 39s. 11th June: A good turnout for the club at the Ellesmere Triathlon (aka Shropshire) and great results. Phil Davidson believes it's because he's wearing his top, but I'll let you decide whether that's true. 4th June: Congratulations goes to Rachel Jones as she wins the Italian round of the Biathle World Tour, in Follonica, Tuscany. The race comprises a 1500m run, a 200m swim and another 1500m run, which Rachel completed in 14 mins 25 secs, beating her nearest rival by 20 seconds. 4th June: Andy Brooks early season form continues as he wins the Cheshire Sprint Triathlon in 58 m 18 secs. After a steady first lap on a demanding 4 lap course, Duncan picked off the runners ahead of him one by one to record 45:57, the fastest Guest time of the day, and good enough to place him 69th (of 225) in the Senior Men and Vets category at Lancaster University.
